Head teacherS

Head Teacher: Samantha Sanchez

Samantha Sanchez was raised by her mother in Lower East Manhattan. The family eventually moved to Pennsylvania, where Samantha graduated from Cedar Crest High School “Sam” has always enjoyed working with others, particularly at the Camp Curtin Preschool, where she has served as a key volunteer for over two years. What makes her feel most rewarded is making others around her happy. Her goal at the Camp Curtin Community Preschool is to provide the children with a place of comfort where they will grow and learn together with the core values of honesty, hard work, compassion, and most importantly, FUN!

Head Teacher: Jennifer Morris

Jennifer Morris, better known as Ms. Jen, was born and raised in central Pennsylvania. She resides with two teenagers, two dogs, two cats, two guinea pigs, two twins, and one husband. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and listening to music. She has volunteered and been active in the community for many years, because she finds that working with others to reach a common goal is an amazing opportunity. Ms. Jen is very excited to have become part of the Camp Curtin Community Preschool family, and looks forward to learning and growing with each child, family and co-worker along the way.

Assistant Teachers

Assistant Teacher: Rachael Dudu

Rachael Dudu was born and raised in Uganda and that’s where her parents and siblings reside. She is married with a 10 year old son and also a student at Harrisburg Area Community College majoring in Early Childhood Education. Her hobbies include, having fun with kids, her family and friends, singing, cooking, baking and volunteering at her local church kids programs.


  • Rich Stokes LSW, is an active Preschool classroom volunteer and serves as Co-Chair of the Board of Directors. He is a graduate of Penn State Harrisburg and the Widener University School of Social Work. Before becoming a Licensed Social Worker, he taught Middle School Civics in the Harrisburg School District.

  • Steph Laverty has volunteered at the Preschool for the past two years in the classroom and is on the Board of Directors. She has worked for the Hamburg Center for the Developmentally Disabled in Berks County, the USPS in Oakland, CA and Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley, CA. She obtained a nursing degree from Merritt College, and is retired from PinnacleHealth where she worked as a medical abstractor. She also volunteers in the Asperger’s/autism community and has volunteered at the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.

  • Carolyn Shaffer is a volunteer with the preschool. She is a graduate of West Chester State College. She is a retired Health and Physical Education teacher having taught 36 years in the Central Dauphin School District.

  • Debbie Sanders has volunteered at the Preschool since it began in 2015 and continues to be an active classroom volunteer. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology.

  • Shirley Marks also volunteers with the Preschool and serves as Co-Chair of the Board of Directors. She has been a community advocate and volunteer in the Harrisburg community for many years. She was in the core group of individuals when the Preschool began in 2015 and was a co-teacher in the Spring 2016 semester. She continues to be an active volunteer in the classroom and the Summer Enrichment Program, and particularly enjoys watching the students grow in both their social and academic skills. Shirley has a business background.
